Silica Sand

Silica sand is quartz which are broken by the act of water and wind over a period of time. It mostly consists of small granules of quartz and are further customized into coarse, medium and ultra-fine sizes as per requirement. There are many varieties of sand each with unique characteristics and quality around the globe.

Silica is also known as silicon dioxide with chemical formula SiO2. It has high melting and boiling points and resistance to chemical and physical weathering. It typically has a granular or gritty texture and ranges in color from white to light beige.

It is widely used for Industrial applications such as Glass making, Foundry, Filtration, Ceramics , Construction material ,Refractories etc.

Benefits

  • Glass Manufacturing: Silica sand is a key raw material in the production of glass. It is used as the main ingredient in glassmaking, providing the silica necessary to form the glass matrix. Silica sand with high purity and consistency is preferred for producing clear and high-quality glass products, including bottles, windows, and glassware.
  • Foundry Casting: Silica sand is widely used in foundry casting processes as a molding material. It serves as the base material for making Molds and cores in metal casting operations.
  • Construction: Silica sand is used in various construction applications, particularly in the manufacturing of concrete and mortar. It is added to cementitious mixes as a fine aggregate to improve workability, strength, and durability.
  • Filter Media: Silica sand is employed as a filter media in water filtration systems for removing impurities and particles from water.
  • Hydraulic Fracturing (Fracking): Silica sand is utilized in hydraulic fracturing operations as a proppant to prop open fractures in oil and gas reservoirs. Frac sand, a specific type of silica sand with high purity and roundness, helps enhance the flow of hydrocarbons from the reservoir to the wellbore during fracking operations.
  • Ceramics and Refractories: Silica sand is an essential raw material in the ceramics and refractory industry. It is used as a filler and flux in ceramic formulations, providing strength, stability, and thermal resistance to ceramic products. Silica sand is also used as a refractory material in high-temperature applications such as kiln linings and furnace insulation.
  • Packaging – 25 kg, 50 kg, 1mt Bags or customized packing as per requirement.
